It's all pillows all the time at my house this week. I received two requests for pillows from a far away friend and from my sister using the Central Park by Kate Spain fabrics. I feel a little giddy with all the ideas I have in my head for what I want to make! I finished 3 pillows yesterday. I wanted to practice a bit and see how the fabrics all worked together. They turned out so great that I'm inspired to make many, many more! I finished up the first of two for my sister this morning - she's getting the orange one. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to let any of these leave my house as I love them all!
It's been interesting to practice some of my straight line quilting on a few of these. Using scotch tape to mark wider lines works much better than the chalk lines - and with no mess on the fabric! I also noticed that it's difficult to sew on the narrow strips with my walking foot. It tends to bump up next to the previous seamline since the foot is 1" wide. I may need to put on my regular 1/4" foot for those in the future.
I'm also a little addicted to the wavy line quilting. I love the extra motion it puts into the piece. I only bought 1 yard pieces of the orange, green, and purple fabrics and I can only get two pillows out of each of them. I might have to go back and get more before it's gone.
What do you all think of my pillows so far? Personally, I can't stop looking at them and loving all the fun colors! It's making these cold days bearable!

These are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love them! I like the orange one best! And the purple one! And the green ones, that now look earthy and vine-like, with the wavy stitching!

LOVE! I love the designs and I love the fabrics. I am going to have to check out this line of fabric!
ReplyDeleteI think these pillows are incredible! I love that you have made so many...it makes me want to make a bunch from one line. I've only ever made a couple of pillows, and only one at a time, so I really love the idea of making a bunch!
ReplyDeleteThanks for inspiring me!
The pillows are all beautiful!
